My avatar handler met Michael Dell in 1984 and has been a big fan of Dell Computers since. In fact, she has referred clients and friends to Dell for over 25 years. Ironically, she did not purchase her first Dell Computer until 2009. She read about Dell having a presence in Second life since 2007 and found their write-up on Dell Island in Second Life (as of 2015 this links to Wikipedia listing of real companies with a presence in Second Life).
